Each summer since 2017, Sac Dance Lab has produced free pop up community dance shows within the downtown grid. We bring all five dance teams; approximately 40 dancers out to perform high-energy, family-friendly dance routines!
Our mission in providing these pop up routines includes creating community, driving placemaking in public spaces and exposing people of all backgrounds to the art of dance. This also serves as a unique and fun opportunity for dancers to practice the art of performance.
Pop Up Dance Parties have drawn crowds of 100 and more and are always 100% free to the public. Each performer, director and all event staff are all volunteers. We’ve been lucky to have support from local organizations and businesses who help us make these happen every year. We’ve produced free pop up dance parties at 2nd Saturday, Our Street Night Market, DoCo, Crocker Art Museum, Old Sacramento, Ali Youssefi Square and more.
